STAGES ESCALONA-CADALSO AND CADALSO-CEBREROS (ENGLISH)

THE CAMINO OF SANTIAGO OF THE SOUTHEASTERN TO ITS PASSAGE BY CADALSO DE LOS VIDRIOS

The Association of Friends of the Way of Santiago in Cadalso de los Vidrios prepares a pamphlet of spreading of the Way of Santiago of the Southeastern to its pass by the province of Madrid.

The two stages, between Escalona and Cadalso de los Vidrios, and between this locality and Cebreros, constitute the element of union between the two Castillas.

First of these two stages, it runs from the toledana locality of Escalona, happening through Paredes de Escalona, both in the province of Toledo (Castilla la Mancha) to arrive directly through Cenicientos or by the Camino Real to Cadalso de los Vidrios. Cenicientos and Cadalso belong to the province and independent Community of Madrid.

The second of the described stages part of Cadalso de los Vidrios and avoiding the highway, only recommendable for travelling in bicycle, goes into in a pine through way of Casa Tablas, way of the Boquerón, Vía Pecuaria (cattle route) and Vía Verde (green route) of the old layout of the train of narrow route between Alcorcón and Plasencia (that did not get to work), to accede from the M-501, already next to the East Way, to the Toros de Guisando.

From the Toros de Guisando continuous by the Cañada Real (Real Gorge), it is acceded to the bridges of Valsordo that cross a river Alberche and from here to the locality of Cebreros, in the province of Avila (Castilla and Leon).

The pamphlet contains a situation map with the description of the two stages, rutometros, services of the different localities, monuments to visit and schedules of certain establishments and monuments.

WHAT TO SEE IN ESCALONA.

· Church San Vicente: Well of cultural interest. Century XI. Románica. It emphasizes its apse, since it is a very free and particular interpretation of the style. It really constitutes the only example of this type. (It staggers)

· Roll: Located in the Great Seat. According to its inscription we can say that it was made in 1793 being mayor Don Salustiano Herranz. (It staggers)

· Walls: The wall surrounds the historical helmet by the locality with a length of 1,500 meters, 9 meters of height and 2.50 meters in thickness, is sustained on the virgin land, without no type of laying of foundations. (It staggers)

· Castle/Palace: The walled enclosure that we today see of style mudéjar irregular polygon, dates from the years of the Don Infant Juan Manuel and Moon Don Alvaro. In Century XV the castle of Scallion was one of most important of Castile. (It staggers)

TOROS DE GUISANDO (BULLS OF STEWING)  (EL TIEMBLO)

· Bulls of Stewing: Enormous stone sculptures that belong to the íbera culture. They represent shot oxen and they have a series of characteristic characteristics as the wrinkles in the neck, the orifices of the eyes and the horns (that would have to be detachable in crystal, bronze and gold). The located one more to the north it takes in its back a Latin inscription. (the Aspen tree)

· Museum of Adolph Suárez: Tribute to Adolph Suárez, the process of the Transition and the arrival of the Democracy.

· Santiago church Apostle: Century XVI. Well of Cultural interest. Architectonic wealth and escultórico and artistic value of herreriano style. To position of works Pedro of Tolosa, first teacher of the stonecutting of the Monastery of the Dump.

· Picota or the Roll of Justice: Monument of granted century XVI to the villa at the moment that already obtained the own jurisdictional unit. One is in the passage of the road that united Valladolid with Toledo.

· Hermitage and Place of Valsordo: Place of calmness and rejoicing is the Place and the Hermitage of Valsordo, space of devotion to the pattern: the Virgin of Valsordo. The Hermitage is very next to the villa, to little more than 2 km in direction of the bridges of Valsordo through where it passes the Alberche river, a zone with a flora where to discover pines, rockroses and numerous stocks of grenache.

· Bridges of Valsordo and Santa Justa: In order cross a river Alberche it has connected two bridges, first, the one of Santa Justa of a single arc, the second, the one of Valsordo of three arcs and possible Roman origin since this way a Roman road ran.
